Construction activity in Ontario in 2022 was just slightly below the peak levels reached in 2021, and the Greater Toronto Area continues to lead within the province.
In the first half of 2023, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, approximately 17,500 new units (that includes apartments as well as single and detached houses) were started within the City of Toronto. That is slightly less than last year.
